Kickin' Chicken opened last Monday on Rockville Pike and was giving away free samples this weekend. The bird appeared to have been marinated but not spice-rubbed like most pollo a la brasa and was extremely juicy. The yuca fries were light-crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Their drink menu has the usual canned and bottled drinks plus homemade Chicha Morada and Maracuya (passion fruit). Both were good. Their sauces were better than those at most Pollo places IMO. The mayonnaise/mustard sauce was light, creamy, and had a more pronounced mustard taste than most. They don't have the usual jalapeno green sauce, but use a creamy greenish/yellow sauce made from aji peppers that includes cheese. Many peruvian restaurants have this delicious spicy sauce. Available desserts include Tres leches, alfajores, flan and rice pudding. Anyway, a fine addition to the pollo a la brasa scene.
