Hey there Boston hounds. I live in Manhattan and I'm a regular on the Manhattan boards, so I feel a little bad about posting such a general message on this board. I know how it is when out of towners post really broad based messages when all they really need to do is peruse the board a bit and they'll get all the answers they need. But now I am walking in their shoes and the truth is I'm on a surveillance mission for a friend so I'm trying to cut some corners. Please forgive. Here's what I need your help with --
A friend of mine is going to Boston this weekend for a romantic weekend with her new boyfriend. Knowing what a chowhound I am, she has asked me to scope out some restaurant suggestions for her. They're looking for relatively low key places with great food, hopefully with nice ambience. Price isn't particularly an issue, but I don't think they're looking for the four star fancy places. Cuisine is wide open. Tell me about Boston's secret finds. Also, any fun food for breakfast or lunches -- you know, really low brow places that have THE BEST fill in the blank (pizza, falafel, etc.)
Anything you can suggest to increase my reputation as chowhound extraordinaire would be greatly appreciated. I'll even root for the Red Socks next time they play the Yankees!
