low key birthday dinner recommendations?

jen maiser | Aug 27, 2003 01:51 PM

It's my boyfriend's birthday, on Labor Day of all days. I am shooting for making it a very relaxing day for him, low drama.

What I want: Mid price range, don't have to dress up too much for dinner, quiet & non pretentious, good wine list, seafood choices, local fresh foods if possible, good wine list, able to make reservations or walk in without too much hoopla. Near pacific heights is a special bonus, so that we don't have to go too far.

Here's my list of ideas so far (I have been to none of them)

Alegria's
Firefly
Aziza - probably too loud for what I am thinking - probably better with a group?
Merenda - seems much more costly than the others on this list - is this true?
Minako
Pesce

Any thoughts on the list I have? Do they all meet my requirements? Any restaurants you would suggest along these lines?

Also - really debating about having dinner on Sunday night instead of Monday ... not sure if anyone has an opinion about that.

Thanks, everyone.
