Keeping It Fresh (and Local) - Try a Farmer's Market Today

album | Apr 26, 200805:53 AM

It is the second week of the market season for our favorite westside Madison farmer's market. If you can detect a hint of giddiness ... well ... I have to say I just adore fresh milk, salad greens, bread and baked goodies, honey and jam, herbs, fresh meat, plants, fresh-cut flowers, produce, fruit, and this is Wisconsin, so cheese to you! I could prattle on about all the shapes, sizes, and tastes of this, or any other, Wednesday and Saturday farmer's market here in Madison, but I'd rather throw down the proverbial gardening glove and challenge you to experience for yourself. Not to your liking, you say, to go shopping first thing on a Saturday morning? Try a CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) membership. Not familiar with CSAs. Again, I challenge you to become informed as to what is available to you locally year-round.
