I've admittedly avoided Kebeer for a pretty long time. I wrote it off as yet another Russian beer place in the area akin to Anyway with overpriced food of dubious authenticity. I could not have been more wrong! In an effort to change our Russian Wednesday (in this case Russian Friday) drinking spot we showed up there rather late and were overwhelmingly pleased with what we ate and drank. Their menu is largely Uzbek with other token Russian and "American" dishes, but the kitchen is for all intents and purposes a one woman Uzbek effort. The beer list, however, is filled with well-priced German, Belgian and Czech beers on tap. Great selection and liters are only 7-14 dollars depending on the beer. They've also got a drink 5 liters in 3-4 hours challenge....
The lagman is fantastic! Easily better than Cheburechnayas or Cafe Kashkars. Their cold starters aren't the best, but both their samsa and cheburekas are notably good. The plov is even quality! The texture of the rice isn't quite what it should be, but the flavor is good. And they have it every day unlike the dice roll that is Cafe Kashkar's menu.
All in all. Great prices, great staff and excellent quality.
Some other area updates include... Cafe Kashkar has dog soup now! Velvet Rose has extremely reasonable drink prices... That's it for now.
