Kanoyama (fka Koi) Review

Chico | Nov 29, 2005 02:02 PM

Last night I returned to Kanoyama- which changed its name after the negative response the LA Koi has received- and was once again re-affirmed how great their sushi is.

From sublime Blue Fin O-toro which is among the best in the city, great big-eye chutoro, and blue fin rib, to delicious maine uni, baby snapper sashimi and a negitoro hand roll for dessert- every item was pristine and incredible.

The pieces are smaller than the Iso days, and the prices a bit higher- but those on a budget can take advantage of the "early bird (before 7)" specials which are really cheap- ($14 for a full meal) as well as the sushi platters which are huge and a great value.

Nice to know that this place is still firing on all cylinders- especially on a Monday night after a holida weekend which may not be the best occasion to have sushi.
