Joy Yee

The Check Plz show thread (and I did have the misfortune to catch the late night re-broadcast after a late dinner at Emilio's Meson Sabika), reminded me of a question I have for the experts.

But first, can we agree that Check Plz makes the Tribune resto reviews seem downright excellent. I think that show is the journalistic successor to Kup's Show - puff pieces, paid for by some hidden sponsor.

Joy Yee: Ate there once and was very unimpressed. The food was uniformly bland, sort of mushy. I did like the comment on Chk Plz that it was a little disappointing that Lobster Puffs were Surimi Puffs. (please stop me from returning to that show again).

The Bubble Tea was nice, and the room is sort of fun, but I have no desire to return. For the pan-Asian thing, Penang has it all over that place. I probably missed a thread on this, but what experiences have others had with Joy Yee? Was it a bad night? Is some of their food (maybe the Vietnamese items, if you can find them) good?

And yes, Check Plz is clearly some sort of conspiracy. The problem is that to crack it, you have to subject yourself to it. Don Rickles, for pete's sake.
