Jonez (Jones) in the West Village

After trying to stop by Spotted Pig (which was featuring a very uninspired "special" menu of salads due to the fact that their kitchen isn't finished yet), I went to the recently renamed Jonez (formerly Jones) on Greenwich Ave.

The food was homey and delicious -- just what I needed on a cold night. Appetizers: non-cream based Tomato soup and a warm spinach salad that happily included two of life's most essential joy enhancers: garlic and goat cheese. Entrees: an onion infused burger that was easily the most satisfying burger I have had in eons and mac and cheese garnished with bacon and tomato. The mac and cheese was, to my taste buds, a much more honest rendering of the dish than Wildflower's overly gussied up lobster and truffle oil version.

The service was incredibly warm and gracious and the entire experience was the perfect antidote to the winter blues.

Highly recommended.
