John O'Groats no longer serving dinner

PayOrPlay | Jan 19, 200507:01 PM

John O'Groats (10516 W Pico, near Beverly Glen), well-known as one of LA's best breakfast (and lunch) establishments, has ended its dinner service.

Paul Tyler, the owner, told me they may start up again "in the spring," a couple of nights a week, but he just wants to spend more time with his kids right now. He says breakfast and lunch continue to be as busy as ever but the dinner traffic had declined a lot, especially with the cold wet weather over the last few weeks. (Of course, today it was 86 in the shade, and they had a couple of outdoor tables set up on the sidewalk, which I don't recall ever seeing before.)

Too bad about dinner, because this was an excellent and little-known (albeit a bit expensive) alternative for family dinner in the Rancho Park area. But I'm not going to begrudge Paul his home life.
