Don't go!!! Joe's Crab Shack in Old Sac (Sacramento)

AMT | Apr 6, 200406:03 PM

My boyfriend and I were craving seafood/crab in February (I realize coming up on the end of crab season) but we thought where else could we possibly find fresher crab than at Joe's Crab Shack. We couldn't have been more wrong. My boyfriend ordered a crab alfredo, which was mediocre at best, and after all, how hard is it to screw up alfredo? I ordered the Louisiana Crab Pot, which consisted of a 2 foot diameter plate with previously-frozen crab legs, prawns, mushy corn on the cob and broccoli, and several vegetables that I couldn't even recognize. The entire layout was as if the chef had tossed these items onto the plate and hadn't even looked at it before sending it out. It was completely un-eatable.

I would also like to mention that the atmosphere was absolutely horrible. Halfway through our dinner, they dimmed the lights, turned on the disco ball and then all of the servers proceeded to do a little dance for about 15 minutes. I didn't think it was cute at all.

I thought it was my obligation to report this terrible meal in hopes that others won't suffer our same fate. After all, there's nothing worse than spending good money on bad food.

Anyone else have a similar experience? Or any recs for Sacramento seafood?
