Jinky's Santa Monica

WLA | Feb 3, 200310:15 AM

Decided to give the latest branch, (original in Sherman Oaks) a try for breakfast. Knowing what 2nd Street in Santa Monica between Broadway and SM Blvd. can be like in terms of parking I went for the 7:30 A.M. opening. Got a meter right in front and no money necessary until 9:00.

First of all I will say that if you say you open at 7:30 for business you need to open at 7:30. Stood out front for a few minutes past that until the waitress opened the doors.

Nice bright clean space with a few booths and quite a few tables. Good, efficient, and engagingly pleasent service.

Decided to try a omelet with chorizo and American cheese with green onions. Large omelet, good potatoes and the onion bagel was excellent. The downside is that the chorizo had little to no chorzio taste. I would try Jinky's again, but would avoid the chorizo at any cost. Breakfast was $11, plus tip, (which included coffee which comes in a small carafe and allowed me to avoid having to flag down the waitress for refills), which is a good way to run that aspect of breakfast.

As the place filled up it was family hour with many kids. Since it is walking distance from a lot of the hotels along Ocean, not to mention the Holiday Inn two short blocks north at Colorado, they will get a ton of tourist business. It is located at 1447 2nd Street directly across the street from Buca de Beppo.
