Finally stopped by to try Jasmine Deli's new venture, a combination Thai-Vietnamese place. I must admit I was skeptical, partially because I am distrustful of places that mix cuisines. Also, sequels make me nervous. But I liked this place quite a bit. We had a basil appetizer which was like a spring roll which was excellent. Paz had the banh mi which was as good as the banh mi at Jasmine (usually) is. I was feeling wimpy so I got the pad thai, which was good, and Paz had the chicken rice noodle soup, also as good as Jasmine's. The Thai food has a certain amount of what I can only call "polish" to it that I don't love. I prefer the more rustic hearty dishes like at Krua, but it is a great addition to a somewhat abysmal area; I work at Fairview and having a good takeout option is invaluable.
By the way, has anyone tried "yummy yummy" Korean BBQ across the street?
