Japanese cream puffs in the EV

Today was the grand opening of Beard Papa's cream puff bakery on Broadway & Astor Place. I'm not sure if this is the same place that made such a splash in Chelsea, but if the reception on the east side is any indication, probably so. Right now there is about a 15-minute line...

I tried one of their classic cream puffs - they are delicious, a bit crispy on the outside with vanilla filling a little lighter than pudding. I'm no cream puff afficionado but I enjoyed it. A great deal at $1.25 each. Apparently they also have 'special' flavored cream puffs that vary by day, but I only saw the original.

My suggestion would be to wait a few days until the crowd dies down and then swing by for a few.
