Dear fellow Chowhounders,
I had a really great time in Tokyo last October, and hence I’m planning to visit Tokyo again from 18-25 April 2015 with a stop-over for one night at Hakone.
As with the many posters in Chowhound, I look forward to receiving your invaluable feedback and input re food in Tokyo. I know sometimes these posts can be rather tiresome since everyone wants to post their itinerary, but I’d rather see it as a brainstorming session.
The last time when I visited, there wasn’t that much planning done, but we didn’t really mind since there was good food all around. This time, I’d like to be able to visit some of the other places that piques my interest:
We arrive sometime in the afternoon, and we’ll be staying at Ebisu, at least for the first few nights. Thinking of heading to Toki No Ma (Ebisu) – any feedback on the place?
We’re visiting “Sushi-Ya” for lunch (managed to get a friend to make a reservation).
Any suggestions for dinner? I’m thinking maybe some ramen, or yakiniku. I went to Kumimoto the other time, and I know Jumbo but that’s rather far. Was wondering if there was anything really good near the Shibuya area.
Maybe some ramen for lunch or maybe we will try to queue for Sushi Midori.
Uoshin for dinner, or Potsura-Potsura – what do you guys think?
Need a good lunch option - maybe Torishige? (oyakodon)or Kaneko Hannosuke (Tempura)?
Sushi Tokami for dinner – I made friends with Sato-San during my last trip to Tokyo and he’s been incredibly friendly and helpful so it would be nice to visit him again.
Off to Hakone. We’re staying at the Fujiya. Any feedback on where to eat?
Back to Tokyo
Always keen for a good izakaya – maybe Kotaro Shibuya or Namikibashi Namamura?
Tonkotsu seems to be in order: maybe Butagami, Maisen, or Katsukara. Which would be good?
Having dinner at Sushi Harutaka (couldn’t get Saito nor Miyakozushi).
Maybe Hachibei for yakitori.
Love izakayas. Anyone been to Sakanaya Ajisen? Would love your feedback.
Back home, sadly.
