My husband and I just got back from visiting his mom in Mt. Prospect. We went to our usual haunts--Lou Malnati's, Gold Coast Dogs, Al's Beef, Bohemian Crystal, Garrett's popcorn...yum, yum, yum. We gave his mom a choice for our last night to go anywhere she wanted. We were hoping she would choose Mortons, Lawry's, etc. She chose Jamison's Charhouse in Mt. Prospect. I looked on this board for some comments on the place but couldn't find any. So here's my post...don't bother to waste a precious Chicago dining experience on Jamison's. We loved the clubby atmosphere, dark woods, fireplace, friendly wait staff. The place was packed at 7:00. It looked like it could be a winner and was until the steaks arrived. Boring and of average quality. I had the 16 oz. ribeye but it was my fault that I went with medium rare-to medium, after the the waitress said medium rare would have a cold center. Regardless of it being overdone to my taste, it lacked in taste. My husband got the 16 oz. New York strip but when it was served it didn't even look like the right cut of beef. It, too, was tasteless as well as fatty.
True, the whole meal was probably less than half the price of Morton's but it was not worth the money we paid.
