i went for a nice walk around dumbo early this morning and stopped into JACQUES TORRES. wow were they busy the moment the doors opened. inside, several groups of what i thought were rather well-informed tourists in front of me all instantly spent $50-$150 on the tasty looking chocolate treats. i sheepishly took just a croissant and spicy hot chocolate to go -- for $4.00.

the choc in the drink was very good and was the best part of it. it was creamy and rich, but suprisingly to me really wasn't spicy at all, just a little odd tasting if anything. i'd stick with regular choc next time. i enjoyed the buttery, fresh and warm croissant much more. i walked back to manhattan over the brooklyn bridge thru chinatown and found it was still way too early for NEW GREEN BO, fyi they open at 11:00am. oh well, next time.
