Pardon the esoteric reference, but used to frequent this tiny little izakaya in Vancouver called "Guu". For $50 or so for two, one could get 5 or 6 plates of Japanese pub food together with tall Kirins. Unbelievably good (would consider flying back just to hit it again). Izakays seemed to have hit the West coast first, but I hear they've recently come East. Does anyone know of anything comparable in NYC?
