We are going to Italy in a couple weeks and I have been feverishly collecting lots of tips from the International board about various cities. Thanks so much for all of the great information on this board!
We will be based in Radda in Chianti for 6 days, and then Rome for a few more. Sounds like close to the same time as you, Samovar?
My specific question is about the day that we arrive. It will be a Sunday afternoon (probably around 4ish after we get our luggage and car), so our options may be pretty limited. Any suggestion for a place to stop for a bite on the way to Radda in Chianti after landing at Florence airport? I would want something that is fairly easy to find and not too far off the planned journey to the villa.
The rest of the trip, I will be much more willing to explore, but expect to get there tired and excited and ready for a snack. Looking forward to spending lots of time in the small towns in Tuscany, some time in Florence, and hopefully making it to Bologna for a day.
Not sure if we will drive down on the main motorway or the Strada Statale Chiantigiana - open to suggestions there.
Any comments on this would be GREATLY appreciated, and gladly reciprocated if you are ever seeking information in San Francisco.
