Serious New Italian In Northern VA: Fiore di Luna

When Yannick Cam left Le Relais for his new restaurant near 7th and PA the owners of Le Relais decided to close house. In its place a new Italian resaurant, Fiore di Luna, has been opened by the owner of Reston's Il Cigno with the former chef of Georgetown's Cafe Milano at the range. The menu is amibitious:

"soup of wild mushrooms with mascaparone cheese sprinkled with white truffle oil"

"thinly sliced beef tenderloin, topped with goose liver flavored with port wine and cognac served with frisee and balsamic"

"lobster salad served warm with diced Belgium endive, cantaloupe, oranges and garnished with chervil"

"Caranaroli risotto cooked in port wine garnished with Moscovy duck breast and foie gras"

"Pappardelle Bue: pasta ribbons with oxtail, root vbegetables, black trumpet mushrooms and oxtail jus"

"Open faced raviolo filled with melted fontina Val d'Aosta, rabiola and taleggio cheese gratin"

"Loin of roe buck served with spinach gnocchi, porcini mushrooms and gin sauce"

"Vanilla flavored Granny Smith apples wrapped in phyllo dough with roasted pine nuts and golden raisins, served with lemon and wild honey ice cream"

Believe it or not but this new restaurant is already totally booked for Valentine's Day!
