Italian 00 flour??

Can someone tell me whether a King Arthur flour called "Italian 00" is really significantly different from ordinary flour?

I have a recipe I'm thinking of trying, called baci di ricotta--"ricotta kisses". Basically, you mix 1 cup of ricotta, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup Italian 00 flour, some flavorings, and deep fry the batter. This flour is not exactly available in my neighborhood supermarket, and anyway, it's about $3.75 for a 5 lb bag, and the only use I know I have for it is the 1/2 cup in this recipe, so I'm wondering if the success of the recipe really depends on this Italian 00 flour.
