ISO: Old timey seafood steamer in Miami

Andrew in Alabama | Jul 11, 2001 10:21 PM

I can remember probably 15-20 years ago when I would visit my grandmother in Miami Beach, she would take me to a place called "the steamer." This place had so little atmosphere that it actually had atmosphere, if you know what I mean.

The other thing I remember was the simple, but outstanding steamed seafood like shrimp, clams, etc. This was long before Miami Vice made the town fasionable again, and mostly the customers were older retirees sitting at the counter and eating.

Anybody got an idea what this place was, if it still exists, if so where it is, and if not, any good similar alternatives in the Miami area?
