ISO the Best of South Eastern Maine

Heading out next week to spend 10 days in the one of our favorite parts of the country -- the south eastern part of the state of Maine. (Taking a blacksmithing class in Auburn, staying in Kennebunkport, and driving all over the place.)

We will probably have a meal at the White Barn Inn, and will certainly pay at least one visit to the Maine Dinner and to Becky's in Portland (we really like dinners), but that still leaves quite a few open slots on our dance card.

I wonder if those of you who live in or frequent this part of New England might be willing to share your absolute favorites? Don't care at all if it's burgers, donuts, lobster rolls, great pie, or fancy "cuisine." Just want to know if there are gems (hidden or not) in the area that make your hearts sing!

We will make an effort to try any and all recommendations in the region (seriously, I have been known to drive 150 miles for a good burrito), and will absolutely report back. We would be very grateful for any suggestions you'd be willing to share with a couple of out-of-towners who LOVE your state!
