ISO Octopus and Puerto Rican food

Joan | Jul 5, 200509:22 PM

I absolutely LOVE Puerto Rican food, but sadly, I don't think there are any Puerto Rican restaurants in the LA area (Madre's doesn't count for pretentiousness and for mediocrity...especially its mojitos). Puerto Rican food is "down home" Caribbean cooking.

That said, I would forever appreciate the help of the Chowhound brain trust on two issues:

1) Is there a Puerto Rican restaurant in the LA area?

2) In an attempt to recreate a favorite Puerto Rican dish, octopus salad, where can I find "good" octopus, preferably near Pasadena, either in salad or "ready to cook" form?

Any help would be appreciated as I'm both an octopus and LA restaurant novice!
