ISO Italian fig-filled cookie and sesame cookie recipes

toodie jane | Nov 5, 2005 12:04 AM

looking for a recipe for Italian fig-filled cookies, also one for Italian Sesame Regina cookies.

Some old-country Italian friends of my folks used to give them to us every Christams. Mom really misses them and I thought I'd try to send some to her at Christmas.

The fig-filled cookies always had a dab of confectioner's icing decorated with multi-colored sprinkles (neither of which I thought added to the cookies' taste).

The sesame cookies were little logs about 1 1/2" long with sesame seeds pressed into the surface. Stella 'd Oro commercial bakery used to make them, but I haven't seen them in stores here on the west coast for about 5 years. I'd like to get these recipes into my collection.

Thanks.
