ISO a really good Manhattan Clam Chowder

For the most part I've avoided this tomato based style since my earlier experiences were so disappointing, i.e. thin and acidic with canned clams thrown into an otherwise bland tomato soup. Unfortunately I can't recall where (may have been the wine country), but a couple of years ago I came across it on a menu and thought I'd give it another shot. It was a fantastic version, perhaps with a little cream added, loads of flavor and great clams.

Has anyone run across something like this anywhere in your area? Doesn't seem to appear on too many menus. I've posted this on the CA board as well. TIA
