I'm building a new kitchen (one-story addition) and will be including a dual-fuel 30" range in the island. We need to pick a range hood SOON as the roof is being constructed within the next 10 days! Everything I look at seems to come with a litany of problems and complaints. What we need: excellent ventilation (we bake, saute, and stir-fry a lot), great lighting, stainless-steel (no curvy glass stuff), and something that's manageable in terms of cleaning and maintenance. It would be nice if it weren't super loud. Bit of backstory--my husband and I used to own a bakery, so we don't object to stuff looking like it belongs in a working kitchen, although our appliances will all be normal household level ones (stainless steel but not commercial).
I've looked at Jennair, Vent-A-Hood, Proline, and more, till my eyes are ready to cross. What really works and lasts? Suggestions?
