Isgro's Pastries

I live in New York, but had a wonderful experience with Isgro's Pastries on Christian Street in Philadelphia. My son lives in Philly and was turning 35. His favorite birthday cake growing up in Brooklyn was a cannoli cream cake and I thought it would be fun to try to find one and surprise him.

I asked some of his Italian friends, guessing they would have the scoop on great cannoli in Philly and they recommended Igro's Pastries. I sent a fax, explaining the situation and even though it was just before Thanksgiving and they were undoubtedly incredibly busy, they were wonderfully responsive.

They described the kind of cake they could make with cannoli cream and we figured out the size and they had it ready, on very short notice because I found out my son was leaving town on his actual birthday and we needed it sooner than we thought.

The cake got raves from my son and his friends. Lucille and Sue were lovely to deal with and it helped us to be connected to our son for this important occasion. Bravo!
