Isabelle's in Melrose

Isabelle's in Melrose bills itself as a "family kitchen," a place that sells only takeout meals and will cater parties and events. The menu consists of unpretentious, but carefully-prepared American and Italian home cooked meals as well as sandwiches and salads. It seems to cater to families and professionals in the area that are too busy to cook for themselves, want a delicious meal, but don't want the overhead of a sit-down restaurant. It's also a great alternative to the typical (and not very good in this area) Chinese takeout or pizza deliveries.

I decided to give it a try last week and was very impressed by the friendly staff and the great food. Had an incredibly tasty london broil (which must have been marinated in a bit of vinegar, which gave it a wonderful taste), grilled herb polenta, herbed rice pilaf, and glazed carrots. Everything was perfectly prepared, especially the london broil, which was seared on the outside and wonderfully jucy and tender inside. The accompanying mushroom sauce was also very flavorful, especially over the rice. Certainly one of the tastiest take-out meals that I've had in probably several years, and at very reasonable prices.

The staff mentioned they'd only been in business since last summer, and I hope they stay open for a long time to come. I'm certainly going to go back.

Any other experiences (good or bad) with Isabelle's?
