Irish Supreme Court: Subway sandwiches contain 'too much sugar' to legally be considered bread

The headline is great, but I was curious just how this came to be a matter worthy of Ireland's court system: "The ruling today arose from an appeal from Bookfinders Ltd, a Subway franchisee, which claimed that it should not have to pay VAT as many products it sells are “staple foods” and should attract a 0% VAT rate."

Next up, I hope they weigh in on whether hot dogs are sandwiches.
