invented cocktail

So, I had this bottle of Alize Red Passion, which claims to be a mixture of cognac, passion fruit juice, and cranberry juice. I was fine by itself, actually, better than I expected, but it was a little strong for my wife and so I began looking for something to mix it with.

I first tried sparkling wine. The result, in several different proportions, was always a little bitter to my taste, and a little heavy. This could have reflected the quality of the sparkling wine I had on hand.

Then I tried tonic water, and the result was surprisingly good. 50/50, both components chilled so no ice added, and what emerged was slightly tart, slightly sweet, light, and very refreshing, with an alcohol content a bit lower than most wines. I'm now very pleased with myself, though I'm sure this has been invented by others as well. Now all I need is a name. Alionic? Schweppize?

Happy New Year, everyone!
