Dear Paris Chowhounds
this board was always of tremendous help and insights for the past few years of planning and choosing our meals in Paris andnow is the time to thank you all for that. This time things are different as I will be alone in Paris on a Sunday and Monday.
This of course gives me the chance to go to all these tiny cute vegi hipster coffee places my husband doesn't like so much;)
But i am still searching for a possible dinner place on a monday evening (and maybe sunday) and was hoping for some advice from you. I love to dive deep into restaurant blogs and I feel quite familiar with the paris restaurant scene, always searching for that "special" place;) Beeing alone though sets new adaptations.
Past Paris stays included: Septime (years ago, when it was on its heights and you could get reseravtions), Sola, Les deserteur, Pirouette, Will, Ramen Naritake, Les Enfants Rouges, Eels, Le Rigmarole, L´Arcane just to give you an impression. We usually stay in the bastille area, this time though i have decided to stay in the haut marais near Republique (for easier access to the coffees;)
So, i don´t mind to sit alone at a table but will probably not be in the mood for a hours long tasting course dinner affair. and am more looking for a small plates place. That said, I was also glancing an eye to La Condesa (and Accents) but its closed sundays and mondays (which is good though, so i can go there with my love next time).
Sitting at the bar overlooking the kitchen/cooks would possibly be of preference and I would probably go back to Rigmarole, would it not be closed for summer.
As you may see my interest tends to inventive but thoughtful food - but this may also include a really good pho or chinese dumpling or spectacular sushi place. The only thing thats really important is that they know what they do. Abri Soba (cause Abri seeam impossible to get into and i love japanese food), Cam (maybe to hipsterish?), Le Grand Bain are interesting me... but mind you: mondays
So in short: Where to go solo (female midforty) on a monday evening for interesting/exciting food (tastebudways) in an entertaining setting without feeling i would need a companion to enjoy? Last thing: reachable in 20-25 minutes by foot from my hotel?
