Looking for interesting "Off Menu" items in the area

AC | Mar 24, 2006 10:38 AM

When I was recently at Tutto Bene for their weekend Bolivian, I noticed that platters of an unusual entrée were being delivered to a nearby table. We asked our waiter what it was and he informed us that it wasn’t on the menu, but mumbled something that some persistent Google searching revealed to be Charque Kan: a heap of dried shredded lama over steamed hominy with two hardboiled eggs and a small block of cheese.

This experience has had me racking my brain as to other places in the area that have interesting "off menu" items that only the regulars seem to know about. What are everyone’s favorite "off menu" items?
