"Interesting" dining experience @ Impala

I was looking forward to a fun dinner last night at Impala (new Mexican place on Broadway in the former Black Cat location). The menu looked great when I checked it out online. Once my boyfriend and I were seated, we realized that all the waitresses were scantily clad in bustiers and short skirts. It was unexpected, but that sort of thing doesn't really bother me and ended up being sort of amusing. However, the waitress failed to mention that there were drink and appetizer specials on Tuesdays (we overheard another waitress telling other patrons) and she couldn't answer any of our questions about the guessing they didn't hire her for her waitressing experience. :-)

We shared empanadas, which were the best part of the meal. I had the shrimp/crab vera cruz, which was good, but it was described on the menu as spicy and it was not. He had the enchildas verde - they were pretty tasty and I liked the salsa verde, but the dish could have been hotter (temperature wise, it was lukewarm). We usually order dessert, but nothing really appealed.

All in all, it was a good meal in an interesting atmosphere. However, I think it is more a place to go with a group of people before going out, rather than for a nice dinner. Also, the space is pretty big and the whole time we were there, there were only 3 other tables occupied, so I think they may be having trouble finding thier market.
