My hubby and I will be in the City this next week for 4 nights. We won't be staying in Manhattan but in Jersey and short commute. Wed night, we are going to a show. Thursday night we have reservations at Babbos. That's it.....and I'm driving myself nuts. Literally sleepless! We live in El Paso with the best Mexican but mostly mediocre everything else. We no particular order: oysters, artichokes, WINE, cheese, champagne, Indian, middle eastern food, Vietnamese and Thai...though, as for the latter two, our experiences have been comprised of my endeavours to cook from the Pok Pok cookbook, local pho and anything consisting of both coconut milk and red curry paste. I intend for Babbo to be our splurge, but really, food is the highlight of our trip so we have some money to spend; but, for example, upon review of menus, I felt like Le Bernardin and Eleven Madison Park were too much. I'm thinking 250 to 275 per dinner with modest amounts of wine, 75 to 100 for lunch. We will have vino at lunch and dinner; but would love a great mixologist for the pre dinner cocktail experience. We have loved in the past Spotted Pig, Grand Central Oyster Bar, John Dory Oyster Bar, Dhaba, Tamarind and for drinks, Please Dont Tell. I'm trying to be as specific as possible...we are really up for anything. We just don't want Mexican food or anything for the 20/30 something hipsters (we are 40 and 50). Cozy more than clubby/large/noisy. We are thinking that the night before departure, we will have a picnic in our hotel room, so any ideas on where to pick up great bread/cheese/charcuterie and the like are also appreciated. Phew! I don't know what else to say other than it is also our belated honeymoon! Thank you VERY much in advance for any suggestions! I could read this board for hours on end!

Le Bernardin,
The Spotted Pig,
The John Dory Oyster Bar,
