Six of us stopped by at Inka's tonight. As previously mentioned, it's a very welcoming place run by a Peruvian family of Chinese descent.

We shared:
rotisserie chicken
ceviche de pescado
antichuchos (beef hearts)
fried yuca
parihuela (a seafood soup)
chaufa de camarones (fried rice)
lomo saltado
combinado de cabrito (lamb in a cilantro sauce, served with beans)

We also got a pitcher of chica morada, a few bottles of Cristal, and two plates of picarones (donuts) and alfajores for dessert.

My favorites were the chicken, ceviche, and parihuela plus the desserts. Ceviche was spicer than I've had and bigger chunks--less refined than at Limon or Mochica. Fried yuca and French fries were crisp and perfect, and David got them to bring us a bowl of aji, the kitchen's all purpose mildly spicy condiment, which we ate with pretty much everything. More a neighborhood restaurant than high end nuevo Latino, but then it's my neighborhood.

Total came to $150 including tip. Servings are large, and prices are modest, although $18 for a chicken felt a bit high. Great company as always.

Inka's is on Mission at 29th Street.
