Induction versus Electric

I've got a 5-year old Thermador induction 5 burner cooktop, silver. The edges are beveled inward and I've chipped it three times. The third time the chip turned into a crack which is travelling..not good! I know (feel) that natural gas is the best for fine tuning and propane is like kissing your sister so I'm wondering if going back to a high end electric cooktop might be the thing to do. I could expand my cookware to copper and glass and probably reduce my electric bill (inductions take a lot of electricity). Does anybody have any opinion about electrics in terms of 1. quickness 2. fine-tuning 3. easy cleanup. I don't know about ceramic, but the Thermador glass cooktop cleans beautifully. My biggest concerns are quickness, fine-tuning of heart and reduced electric consumption.
