India House -- Lunch Buffet

critical1 | Dec 17, 200301:39 PM

You know...

I'm not an Indian food expert by any means. I may dine at an Indian restaurant perhaps 3-4 times a year. The reason being is that my gf and most of my friends have a dislike for it. That means the extent of my experiance is me dining at lunch buffets alone. I did have an Indian roommate during my college days, and I was able to enjoy a number of nice home cooked meals. Lately, I've been craving it.

The other day, I tried the lunch buffet at the new India House on Grand. It was perhaps the best I had in terms of quality and taste. The other place I frequent at times is the Indian Garden on Ontario which is a few minutes walk from my place. To compare the two, the India House is cleaner, nicer, and the food is piping hot and delicious. There was more of a food selection -- some notable dishes were the chicken marsala, mushroom masala, minced lamb curry, the saag w/ corn. The tandori chicken was juicy and tender. The service is friendly and warm.

For my money, I would go to India House again. (After typing this, I will!) If I had to choose between the two, I would never go to Indian Garden again.
