Il Patrizio

Went there tonight for my son's 18th bday. Really quite delicious. Thin and crisp pizza out of the brick oven. Loved my red snapper (over spinach w. tomato/olives/capers) and the wife and b'day-boy liked their food too. Too stuffed for dessert or coffee.

I also like the ambience too. The decor doesn't throw me, but the lighting's soft, the seating comfortable and the tables are not too cramped -- although it's more crowded than it used to be. Business is good; the place was pretty much filled even though this is the week for eating meat, not dairy.

But the bill for 3, including 2 glasses of wine but no dessert or coffee, came to $143 before tip. Ouch! That's a tab fit for the glattest of meat emporia. Every starter (app, soup or salad) is $10 or more, the pasta dishes are all in the high teens and the fish starts at $25.

All in all, I'll go back, because I'd rather overpay for quality than skimp on the cost and hate the meal altogether. But I won't be going back too often.
