IHOP Buys Applebee's

hiddenboston | Jul 16, 200706:46 AM     7

Just heard this morning that IHOP has purchased Applebee's for $2.2 billion. Definitely an interesting move, as family-style chains are hurting these days (at least two Applebee's have closed in the Boston area recently). Perhaps consolidation is the way to go for these types of chains; it does seem that there are way too many of these family-style restaurant chains out there today...

My blog has a few more details on the purchase by IHOP (click my pizza avatar for the address), but you can get more detailed info by going to the Wall Street Journal's Web site today.
