Ideas for an Interesting NY Experience Tonight

benito417 | Jul 22, 2004 09:13 AM

I have a friend visiting from Chicago tonight. I had originally planned to take her down to Katz and then walk around the LES area, perhaps stopping at Ciao Bella for some gelato or possibly the doughnut plant. As it turns out she has already had the NY deli experience. Pizza also crossed my mind but apparently that has been done too.

Im looking for a place to go with her that is cheap (no more than $10-15 not including drinks)but truly reflects just how unique and special NY eating really is. Location is really not an issue as long as it is in Manhattan. Only cuisine restriction is it cannot be middle eastern. Ideally it would be a place where we could walk around and see an interesting neighborhood after (is there anything near chinatown that would fit the bill?). Any ideas?
