Tonight I walked through Kensington Market and noticed this place. It's on Kensington Ave just north of St. Andrew on the east side. It's just a few doors down from Miss Cora's. As recently as a few weeks back it was a vacant space so this was a welcome surprise. Especially since the old Kensington Market Organic Ice Cream place moved out of the market years ago and then fizzled away.
It seems like this place has opened. I don't recall a specific name on the outside signage, just "Kensington" and "ice cream". It was night, so the lights weren't on. I could see there were pies/pastries in a display case and a sign mentioning they were Chudleigh pies. I could see on the back wall there were dispensers for all sorts of toppings. Saw the ice cream freezer, but couldn't see inside nor could see any indication of what flavours they had.
Does anyone have more info? Has anyone actually tried it? Do they make the ice cream in-house or is it bought from a supplier? I hope they offer a more unique product than the recently opened Cool Hand Luc who resells Kawartha Dairy ice cream. When the new Soma location on King opens, there will be some serious ice cream options in the west end finally.
