Went to South End for dinner tonite. Originally wanted to try the Butcher Shop, but looked very crowded, so we peeked at B&G and looked even more crowded. Tried Hammersley's before, but wasnt that impressed. So, we walked around and settled at Icarus.
The food was fine, not memorable. Service was nice but not professional. the most abdurd thing I think, is the prices. Or maybe I am just cheap :)
I had 2 appetizers and no main course: oyster and celeriac stew, which was bland (a cup of chowder from Legal is better); and foie gras which was nicely done. Husband had lamb, which tasted good but very small portion. then we had the chocolate soufle, which is too dense. We had a beer and nothing else. The bill, with tip was $105. The restaurant is aging. The desk light by our table was dusty.
Definitely will not return. I never really trusted Zagat before, but will never have confidence in Zagat after this (Zagat gave a 26).
