Hunter's Famous Kabobs - Ottawa

The Chemist | Oct 26, 200908:30 AM

I was in Ottawa visiting a friend this last weekend and we passed by Hunter's Famous Kabobs near Kent and James. I was real hungry so I decided to risk it... as it happens, fortune favors the bold.

I got a mixed plate which had a chicken kabob and a ground beef kabob. It came with a huge portion of rice with saffron (with those wonderful charred bit mixed in that is so characteristic of Persian rice), grilled tomatoes, red cabbage, and radish. The kabobs themselves were cooked to order and were very crispy on the outside and perfectly moist and tender on the inside. I grill quite a bit and I know that I would be hard pressed to marinade and grill meat this well. The plate was something like 11 or 12 bucks after tax and easily fed me and my buddy. If you are a big eater, the whole plate won't let you down. The service was friendly and the place has a real family owned feel. They even suggested Persian places for me to try in Montreal (although they maintained that theirs were still the best kabobs, a boast which I am hard pressed to doubt).

It wasn't busy, so I urge you to check this place out. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular in a heartbeat.
