You gotta love that Hungry Cat. I stopped in last night for a light dinner and drinks. I will preface my report by saying that I know one of the bartenders and one of the servers back from when they were at Norman's and I went there a lot. But that does not affect my opinion of the food, which has consistently been excellent.
For drinks, my friend had the mojito, nicely made with fresh mint and thoroughly muddled as well. Not too much soda water, which is a common mistake. I had the special Manhattan, with blackberries. Not ususally my drink but it had a pleasant kick and nice taste.
We started with the oyster sampler, with Hama Hamas (not my fave), kumamota (sp?) which were creamy yummy and then a sister oyster to them whose name I forget which were a bit salty and briny but had an interesting aftertaste.
For dinner, we split the crab cake, which is my second favorite outside of Obrykeys in Baltimore, though I don't know why they feel the need to douse in in aoili. Fortunately, we were able to remove most of it. We also split the halibut with chanterelle mushrooms and grits. Nice combination. For the entree, we switched to a nice French chablis, which complemeted them well.
Nice dinner. Was treated to the meal, so did not see the bill to report final total.
