Hi! I've been lurking on the boards here for a while, but last night, some burning questions entered my head and I just couldn't keep quiet anymore!
I live in Manhattan and don't get out of the city too much. But yesterday, I decided to go up to Westchester to visit my brother who just moved to near the Philipse Manor station on the Hudson Line.
On the beautiful ride up, the train passed a lot of great looking restaurants right on the water. I didn't have anything to write with, so I don't have any specific names to give you, but they were usually fairly close to a train station and were all along the Hudson at least up to my brother's station.
Are these places any good? They seem like they might be very conveinent, especially for a Manhattanite like myself who doesn't have a car.
One of the reasons I'm so curious is that my 1 year anniversary with my boyfriend is coming up and I thought it would be nice to surprise him with a little day (or overnight) trip out of the city some where.
Would any of these restaurants be particularly romantic AND have good food? Can you suggest any other restaurants upstate (further north than Westchester is fine, of course, too) that would be accessible without a car? A little off the topic of the site, but how about some nice B&B or someplace to stay? Same deal about the car of course.
Sorry about the length of this email, and I await your reply(ies)!
