I finally made it to lunch at House Park BBQ on Thursday. Since I usually agree with Greg Spence's taste in BBQ, I have to say I was a bit disappointed that I didn't think it was great. The sauce was too sweet-and-sour for my taste (a recurring theme if you read my Boomerang Pies review?), and I think next time I'll ask them to put it on the side or leave it off. The pork loin was pretty good and smokey, but nothing to write home about. The brisket was enigmatic. Some pieces were tender and flavorful while others were tough and lacked a trace of smokey flavor. Maybe they cut off of two different briskets. Didn't get a chance to try the sausage. It was okay, and I'll probably be back, but I didn't think it rose above the other middle of the road in-town bbq joints.
