Home Cooking Dish of the Month: Nominations for March 2019

L.Nightshade | Feb 19, 201910:49 PM     56

It’s once again time for another exciting round of DOTM nominations! I’m posting early, as we’re in an abbreviated month, but we’ll still have five days to nominate and four days to vote.

During the month of February, we’ve been baking Citrus Cakes here:
https://www.chowhound.com/post/citrus...

Please keep baking and sharing your cakes, but it’s time to put a little thought into what we’ll be cooking together in March.

To nominate a dish for March, type it in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. You may nominate as many dishes as you like. As usual, I urge you to push your own envelope, think of something you’ve always wanted to learn how to cook, something that will help you master a new technique, get acquainted with a new ingredient, or learn about a new cuisine.

**Please read the starred guidelines below about what makes a dish, and what dishes we’ve already done.**

Nominations will be open until February 24th at 9pm Pacific time (12midnight Eastern time, and 4am February 25th GMT). After nominations close we'll move on to voting.

If you have yet to participate in the Dish of the Month, or if you've been reading the threads and never posted on Chowhound, now is the time to join in! It's a lot of fun, and everyone has something interesting to share.

**What Makes a Dish**
A dish is loosely defined as an ingredient and a method of preparation. So while chocolate is not a dish, chocolate mousse is a dish. It doesn’t have to be terribly specific, you don’t have to say “tomatoes chopped and simmered over low heat then puréed and poured into a bowl,” you can just nominate “tomato soup.” For some dishes, both the ingredients and the technique are implied, such as cassoulet or jambalaya.

**Prior DOTM Dishes**
DOTM has been going strong since 2012, and we have covered 80 different dishes! You can view the index of dishes here, and you are invited to make any of these dishes, and contribute to these threads at any time.
