Hinesburgh Public House - Hinesburg, VT

We visited the new Hinesburgh Public House over the weekend. It opened about 3 weeks ago so we figured we had given it enough time for them to work out the kinks before we tried it. We were wrong but it didn't really detract from our experience.

Service was really friendly but we counted 7 MINOR service mistakes. Waitress didn't fully know the menu, my side was put on my husband's plate, bill was brought in an AmEx "folder" but they don't accept AmEx, took a while to get drink refills etc. Nothing major but mistakes that should not have been made IMO.

Food was OK-we were not totally wowed. We both ordered burgers. I asked for mine medium but it came out medium well. For $12 it was pretty basic-cheddar, lettuce, tomato & onion. Would be nice to have other topping options such as mushrooms, carmelized onions etc. It was actually pretty bland-didn't seem to have any seasoning. The only condiment offered was ketchup-we had to ask for mustard. Burger comes with a choice of a side - fries, salad, quinoa or vegi.

I was really pleased with the kids menu except for the price-I thought it was a little pricy for such small portions ($9). Its an al la carte menu-choice of burger, chicken, salmon or pasta. Choice of starch, vegi and fruit. A nice change from most kids menus where your choices are grilled cheese, hot dogs or chicken fingers!

They need lighting in the parking lot badly (there is currently none so its very dark) but from what I understand the property owner is working on putting some in.

The restaurant is very loud so if you are looking for a quiet intimate experience you won't find it there.

We will definitely be back to try again - really interested in trying something off the entree section of the menu especially one of their locally grown steak options. Hopefully in another couple weeks the kinks can be worked out.
