The NH Farmers Bulletin reported the farm that raised and sold Narragansett turkeys sold out this year ... at $ 6.99/lb! This breed is reported to have excellent dark meat. We've tried local fresh turkeys and didn't think they were tasty enough to warrant the difference in price but this is a different breed.
Has anyone tried this kind of turkey or a similar old breed? Was it worth the price? Are there any available this time of year fresh or frozen?
I'm half serious about raising a few although I've never raised meat birds. DH doesn't like the idea and we would have a problem with local coyotes and other wildlife.
