This Must be Heaven - Arthur Bryants KC

Ian Alexander | Jun 4, 2005 09:57 AM

Had a 1pm meeting in KC yesterday...arrived at 9:30 so id have plenty of time to go to Mecca---Arthur Bryants on Brooklyn Avenue.

arrived around 11:00 or so after getting my rental car, about 20 minutes or so from the airport and close to KU Medical center where i had to be by one, made it in plenty of time.

Had the following

Beef sandwich - absolutely sublime. better then any brisket i have had anywhere, including texas. I love that they dont sauce it so i could alternate between the two available sauces. Original, which has an almost orangy flavor and is "gritty" only way to describe. Totally unique, not sweet and the tangier other sauce that is not quite as viscous. Beef was so tender that it fell apart with fork dissection. Ate with pickles, something that the locals apparently do and it was heaven

Pork Sandwich - see above, substitute swine for beef

Burnt Ends - why dont we have these in Chicago?

Fries in their lardy goodness

couldnt finish anything, the whole mess cost around $25.00 and i have to say.

I might have to buy a second home in kansas city. This place is truly wonderful
